The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is one of the 16 German federal states and the country's second largest city with more than 1.7 million inhabitants.
The Ministry of Culture takes responsibility for the promotion and funding of cultural institutions and the arts as well as the creative branch. Currently, the most prominent projects of the ministry are the construction of the ”Elbphilharmonie Hamburg” , which will be one of the leading concert halls in the world , the strengthening of Hamburg as a music metropolis and the further development of the city as a platform for the creative industries
