In 2016, three ladies from Hamburg – Barbara Guggenheim, Gabriele Fenyes, and Judith Landshut – hit upon the idea of publishing a cookbook with Jewish recipes from Hamburg. They enlisted the help of Jewish former citizens from Hamburg for this project asking for any and all family recipes used by people who used to live, cook, and bake in Hamburg – or still do. The response was overwhelming! A multitude of recipes flowed back to Hamburg, sometimes even in the shape of complete hand-written cookbooks as well as recipes sent by Jews from all over the world who currently live in Hamburg and added unique international flavours.
The result is a colourful mix of traditional and modern multicultural recipes and memories. It is bilingual (English and German) and available in bookstores.
