Your Housing benefit – Everything in one App

It is possible to apply for housing benefit in Hamburg completely digitally via the housing benefit app. View your applications, payments and documents anytime and anywhere on your mobile device and communicate securely with your housing benefit office. 
For technical reasons are caregivers, people with power of attorney and people under the care of caregivers currently excluded from use of the app.

BUND ID:
The data is protected against unauthorized access thanks to the high security level of the BundID

We have selected the highest possible security level for logging into the app to ensure that your data remains as secure as possible. 
To confirm your identity, please follow the steps provided for registration:

You need:

1. Your ID card with online function and activated PIN with the following logo on the back:

   

   

2. Your smartphone (requires Android 5.0 or higher / iOS 12.4 or higher; as of february 2026 )
3. Your BundID-account with “Online ID” option “selected“

4. Installed ID card app called “AusweisApp” (for free in Apple App Store and in Google Play Store

5. Download and open the housing benefit app called “Wohngeld-App” 
   Link to the Apple App Store for iPhone 
   Link to the Google Play Store for Android phones 
6. Follow the steps to register and use the link to authenticate/ log in via BundID in the app
7. Your registration was successful if you see this page:

   

8. Click the button “WEITER” which means “continue” to return to the housing benefit app.

You are now logged in and can use the app’s features. Would you like to submit an initial application? The app guides you step by step through all the application processes.In the aftermath you can upload supporting documents.

Are you already receiving housing benefits? Then you can conveniently submit your application for continued benefits via the app two months before the end of the approval period and track the processing status. 

Once submitted, your housing benefit application data will be immediately available in the system of the processing department. Using the app helps to speed up the overall processing of applications.
