Since its relocation from the former State Ministry of Urban Development and Environment to Wilhelmsburg in 2013, the Hamburg city model has been located in the large foyer of the administration building at Neuenfelder Straße 19.
Hamburg on a 1:500 scale
As a permanent exhibition spread out over 111 m², the model, made out of linden wood, depicts the inner city area from Oevelgönne in the west to Rothenburgsort in the east, and from HafenCity in the south to Harvestehude in the north.
The city model shows almost all buildings, streets, water areas, green spaces and industrial areas on a 1:500 scale, in the so-called “teacher format”. Existing buildings are painted in white; planned buildings or those under construction are lacquered.
